Proyecto de Cuba
Throughout this project, we learned about Che Guevara and the revolution that he was such a big part of. We also learned about Fidel Castro and the correlation between him and Che.
After the initial learning process of this project, we had two options for exhibition. I decided to create an art piece of Che, and to write three commands in Spanish that Che would say during the revolution.

La Casa de Mango Street
For this project, the class read chapters from the book: "La Casa de Mango Street," which was written in Spanish. While we were reading, we wrote down new vocabulary words. We then had the task of writing our own chapters, using the same format as the chapters, but instead writing them about our personal homes.
Exhibicion de Las Ramblas!
For this project, I picked a celebrity from Spain to learn about. I chose Carmen Amaya, who was known as a famous flamenco dancer. In this project, I had to gather information on Carmen Amaya's childhood, and her adult years. We then make an electronic presentation, where we wrote in the imperfect and preterite tense. Aside from the electronic presentation, we all had to write a one minute speech using the "yo" form about that person. I spoke in first person as Carmen Amaya. I feel that I took a lot away from the project. Not only about the history of Carmen Amaya, but the imperfect and preterite tenses became more clear, and I even got more practice speaking in Spanish out loud. The exhibition went well! I presented my speech four times, and answered 5 out of 7 questions.
Mi familia reieron a mi. Me encanta el mar siempre, pero esta foca me di miedo este dia. Mi familia y yo visitamos la Playa de Canon cada año, pero fuimos a la Durango, Colorado.
In this project, we wrote a story from our childhood in Spanish, using past tense verbs. The story needed to be 100-150 words, and while broadening our vocabulary, it was kept within our range. It is important to know how to write and speak using past tense verbs because this is how we speak in English, when sharing past events. When telling a Spanish in story, it makes more sense to speak in past tense, as well.
"Day in the Life" Project
The "Day in the Life" project was a presentation of some sort to tell a short story about someone's day incorporating the
use of reflexive verbs. You had the option of making up a character, or basing the story on someone you know. I chose to write a story about Camryn Mata. The story is how Camryn meets celebrity Josh Hutcherson and they go to Hollywood for a day and Camryn gets to meet all of her favorite celebrities. I also chose to write a book. I illustrated pictures and wrote Camryn's day from the time she woke up to the time she went to sleep. The challenge with this project was the use of using reflexive verbs. In English, reflexive verbs possibly don't exist, which is why it is harder to understand how, and when to use them. A reflexive verb in Spanish is used when the subject and object in the sentence is the same, for example, "I wash myself." The object is "myself", and the subject is "I.
